Notes: -
Please remember to record the service, press the record button once, when the Flash Card has been inserted to put recorder on stand-by and press again to start the recording. George Allan leaves Compact Flash Card before service and collects at the end of the service.
*Could recording of service be started just before the Minister says ‘Good Morning’?
Please stop recording just after the benediction.* (This makes for a better recording).
To listen to the recording of your recorded service you can listen to it on the church web site. (Podcast).
To give a good recording of the service only one microphone should be on at one time. (Except when two or more microphones are used at the same time). All microphones should be switched OFF when recording congregational singing.
Remember to switch ON boundary microphones on I/P’s 15 & 16 for congregational singing and choir only. (Sliders that are taped OFF are not required).
Please check with the minister before the service which microphones are required and check the battery level in each. Test all microphones prior to the start of the service.
I’ve asked Donald to test his microphone with whoever is operating the mixing desk before he walks down to the chancel.
If CD player or iPod is required follow labelling to switch on and off!! (A new CD player is installed which handles all CD formats, MP3, RW etc.
When switching OFF the sound system at the end of the service, please just switch OFF the 4 sets of amplifiers in the main cabinet (nothing else), then switch OFF the main switch on the wall beside the mixing desk.
Also, remember on the mixing desk there is a master volume control, set at zero seems to work well.
So far recordings of our services have worked reasonably well.
Some of the instructions have not been adhered to, which causes the next operator problems.
Iain Cameron usually has the PA system switched on and checked the batteries. For your own peace of mind it is better to check that each microphone required works.
Early service means you’ve drawn the short straw, early plus main service!
Many thanks,
Ian Spearing
