“Choir is: many voices making beautiful sound. LIVE. The whole thing is alive, happening in the moment – it’s spontaneous – and free. ” - Marni Strome, Artistic Director of the Calgary Children's Choir
A WELL-BALANCED CHOIR
Hidden upstairs in the gallery, a little construction work has been taking place. Why? Because, believe it or not, we ran out of space for the basses in the choir. In fact, recently, one bass member has had to sit with the altos. We can’t have that! However this rearrangement brings its own problems, for it means extra weight in the gallery on the bass/alto side. Were the gallery to sink a little at that side, while it might theoretically help the basses and altos reach the low notes, we prefer a well-balanced choir. There is a solution – yes, more tenors and sopranos on the other side, where there is definitely still room to spare. Come and join us! Thursdays at 19 30 in the Killellan Halls.
“O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.” Psalms 95:1-2
The Houston & Killellan Kirk Choir are an enthusiastic group of around 24 singers that contribute an Introit and Anthem to Sunday morning worship throughout the year as well as performing at other services and events in the church. Their repertoire spans the 14th to the 21st century and includes both well known and more adventurous choral compositions.
The Choir meet for practice on Thursday evenings in the Killellan Halls at 19.30 (except June, July & August). We manage to have lots of fun as well as the hard work that goes into learning the music - break time sweeties included! We always welcome new members and no audition is required.
