1st Houston and Crosslee Scout Group
The Christmas Fayre in early December continues to go from strength to strength and this years was our most successful ever, with almost £2500 raised through ticket sales and stalls on the day. The committee would like to offer a big thank you to everyone who bought tickets and attended on the day. This years successes included the home made Christmas wreaths as well as bird boxes made by the scouts.
The cubs recently visited Houston & Kilellan Kirk as part of their My Faith Activity and Promise Challenge Badge. The 26 boys were met by the minister who explained about the different parts of the church including the history of the Killellan Bell. The boys then sang the hymn “Kumbaya” and also got the chance the question the minister about the history of the building.
The group are still actively looking to fill a number of vacencies in the leader and committee departments. Anyone parent interested in contibuting a small amount of time to ensure the continued successful running of the group should contact the group James McDonald (Group Scout leader) on (01505) 615441.
The newly refurbished hall is now attracting a number of Children’s parties. The hall is generally free on weekend afternoons and any requests can be made to Colin Berry on (01505) 612617. The current charge is £50 for a 2 hour party and this includes kitchen facilities.
