KIRK CARNIVAL 2015
The Kirk Carnival Committee 2015 would like to sincerely thank every single person who was involved in making our Carnival a big success on 9 May. An event such as this requires a full on commitment by everyone and to name you all in this article would take up all the pages of the Kirk Record. However, you know who you are, so please give yourselves a huge pat on the back.
Our Queen Emily Robb with Attendants Jennifer Boyd and Sarah Kelly looked fantastic and, along with last year’s Queen (Louise Boyd), carried out their duties impeccably. The sun shone all day long and the good people of Houston responded by coming out in large numbers. The fun started with the parade from the Church to the West Hall which was led by our fantastic Boys and Girls Brigade Pipe Band followed by the open topped vintage car with our Queen and Attendants on board. The very inventive and colourful fancy dressers completed our procession.
When our Queen was crowned and the Carnival declared open every stall, side show and food outlet had queues forming which did not diminish throughout the day. As a result, the huge sum of £13,541.53 was raised. Incredible!!
You can bring back memories of the day by checking the photographs There are lots of smiley faces.

Well done to all prize winners.
In keeping with the tradition of all previous years, the 2015 ‘Grand Design’ Kirk Carnival was a huge success. The organisers and helpers will take the summer off to go on holiday or lie in a darkened room for a few months. However, don’t worry the huge organisational machine will then crank up and commence the planning for a great 2016 Carnival which will take place on Saturday 14th May. See you there.
Thank you from the Tea room team.
This year we served 550 teas, coffees and lovely home baking donated by church members and friends in the community. Thank you to everyone who gave time on the Friday and Saturday to help in any way. It was very busy but with all your help it went smoothly.
