Thanks for joining us today.Since you took the time to look in on us can we assume that you are interested in what we do?If that is true then we have taken the opportunity to tell you a little about us in the hope that you might want to know us better and if you like what you learn then you might consider being a part of our family.
If you are visiting our web site for the first time we hope you find the experience rewarding and that you enjoy yourself reading about us. Why not visit us in person for our weekly church service at 11.00 am on a Sunday (10.00am in the summer months) see our service schedule. You will be aware that folk in the Church are only human and sometimes too shy to approach strangers in case they are not a stranger so help us to lay down the red carpet.Make yourself known to any member of the congregation and we will be only too happy to meet you and offer you a cup of tea and conversation at the end of the service. We hope you will join us whenever you find yourself in our neighbourhood.
First of all we are a Church. That is the people are a Church not the building, not the organisation but the people and the Church reaches out to all kinds of people, so within the Church you will find a core group you can relate to with interests which marry with your own.So lets’ outline what we cover in the hope that something appeals to you.Your age will be a key factor in determining your area of interest. So lets’ begin at the beginning and work our way through.

These groups developed out of the Church’s decision to work and to be involved with the people in our local community. We think we do this best by caring, not just for those within our Church but for everyone whether they attend Church regularly or not.We like to offer the opportunity to all to extend a helping hand to their neighbours at home or in foreign lands. We feel we make more progress when we follow the teachings of Jesus, who taught us to“ Love Thy Neighbour” and by regular attendance at Church we are encouraged to follow his teachings more easily.Regular attendance is notfor everyone and many may feel uncomfortable with a regulated system of worship and for that reason we make a point of welcoming everyone who expresses an interest in what we do and who might want to help either from within or on the fringe.
Houston & Killellan Kirk has been part of this community for over 200 years (see history) and of course there have been many changes over that period. We like to think of ourselves as a progressive Church who outside of our religion don’t take ourselves too seriously.
If you’ve got this far, you will have gathered that there is a welcome for you at Houston & Killellan Kirk. That we are committed to spreading the good news and that we want to do it by way of enjoying ourselves.Worship is central to our existence. We believe that while worship is a duty, it should be enjoyable within the frame work of a caring Church. We worship God in many different ways – by listening, singing, reading, talking, laughing and crying -- together and we make the most of the talents God has given us to make the experience rewarding.
Why not make contact with us to see if our enthusiasm rubs off on you.You can do this by contacting us through our Minister on 01505 612569 or through this web site (Contacts) where you will find a whole list of members who will be only too pleased to help you find your way in.
