It does seem as if we would have rather too much competition in the hall, so we will take up Kay's kind offer and meet at 9 St Fillan's Drive. On Thurs.24th April 2010. Peter.
The KIRK CHOIR meets for practice on Thursday evenings in the Church at 19.30 (except July & August).
We are always pleased to welcome new members. If you enjoy singing, please contact Peter Yardley-Jones on email:-

THE KIRK CHOIR
The choir is enjoying working with our new choirmaster, Peter Yardley-Jones.
Peter is also Assistant Organist at St Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral, Glasgow, where he is responsible for accompanying and assisting in the direction of the choir. He was born in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire in 1988. At the age of 13 he was awarded a music scholarship at Bradfield College, Berkshire, During this time he managed his own choir, played regularly in chapel services and studied the organ with Simon Johnson at St. Alban’s Cathedral. He is now studying at the University of Glasgow, where he is reading for a degree in music. As a recitalist, Peter has performed in cathedrals and concert halls throughout the UK.
The Kirk Choir has 25 members, 19 women and 6 men. Practices on Thursday evenings are hard work but fun. We are learning lots of new pieces, some easy, some more of a challenge!! After a prayer, we start off rehearsals with warm-up vocal exercises then on to the introits and anthems for the following Sundays. Peter is very patient with us - even when we produce some rather inharmonious sounds!!
We are very fortunate in having such a talented and enthusiastic young musician to direct our church music. We would, of course, love to welcome new members. SINGING IS GOOD FOR YOU! It releases endorphins into your system and makes you feel energised and uplifted!
No auditions are required - so if you enjoy singing (and sing in tune!) and are willing to give the commitment required, please contact Peter McKerrell 01505 872448.
