THE KIRK CHOIR The Kirk Choir has 25 members, 19 women and 6 men. Practices on Thursday evenings are hard work but fun. We would, of course, love to welcome new members.   SINGING IS GOOD FOR YOU!   It releases endorphins into your system and makes you feel energised and uplifted!

No auditions are required - so if you enjoy singing (and sing in tune!) and are willing to give the commitment required, please contact Peter McKerrell 01505 872448.

This is just a reminder that choir practices start up again this Thursday (1st September).  If you have a copy (or better still, copies) of 'The Anthem Book of the United Free Church of Scotland' (my copy was published in 1909, and the first item is 'Will God in very deed'), please bring it/them with you.

Notes of committee meeting 2.2.12

1. All present

2. Previous minutes - agreed

3. Matters Arising - Scottish lunch - the choir singing was greatly appreciated - thanks to all who participated

4. Review of last month's anthems - satisfactory

5. Proposed anthems, introits, special services etc - list issued. Peter will be happy to accept ideas for anthems from choir members.

6. Matters raised to section reps - very cold church has been an issue over the past weeks (better tonight because heating was on earlier) - can it be on earlier during the cold period? We shall try sitting in the middle of the chancel area to see if this is 'less draughty'.

7.AOCB

 - pleased to see Alec back with us

 - the church will be closed for redecoration from 6th May. Therefore the last choir rehearsal before the summer break will be Thurs. 3rd May. We shall arrange a choir AGM and meal - provisional date is 17th May

 - organist post - no word but a few feelers have been put out. Suggest that the details are put on the Kirk website.

 - PLEASE, PLEASE MARK ALL KNOWN DATES FOR ABSENCE ON THE PLANNER

 - we have received a letter of thanks from CHAS for £50.00 raised in lieu of Christmas cards to choir members

 - the choir account has been audited and will be circulted for all members to see

 - Carnival - it is proposed that we continue to sell the trolley tokens left over from last year - any volunteers to assist with this? - names to Bel

 - two members of the committee (Jan - treasurer and Barbara Ann - alto rep  and minute secretary) are due to resign from the committee this year. We are looking for nominations/volunteers to fill these two positions.

8. DONM - Thurs. 1st March
