The next walk on Saturday 28th January (weather permitting) will be a 4 to 5 mile circular walk round Eglinton Country Park, near Irvine, where we can see the ruins of the castle, standing stones and a small loch.  The walk is along well established paths, but muddy in places, so walking boots recommended.  The cafe is open from 10.30 to 15.30 and so may not be open when we arrive, so I suggest you bring a drink for a break en route. The cafe serves soup, sandwiches toasties and paninis and home baking.  For more details and a map of the park go to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. To get there go through Kilwinning and exit from the Eglinton interchange, which the first major junction going south, and follow the signs to the park.

Please meet at the church at 9.30, but check your emails if the weather is bad.

PS Dogs are welcome in the park.

Two walks a month are planned, one of these walks could involve some cross-country walking but these will be mainly on paths or track

For most walks we will meet at the Kirk at 9.30am on Saturday morning.

Should the weather be poor for a cross-country walk then we will probably change the planned walk for a tarmac based walk on the date.

Good walking boots are recommended but walking shoes and trainers will be suitable for many of the walks. Appropriate footwear for each walk will be advised.

Waterproofs or rainwear should be carried as we can never be sure of our weather.

Walks will be normally be 4 to 8 miles (2 - 5 hours) and brief descriptions of the walks will be found on the Kirk website or by phoning Fergus Stewart at 613083.

A packed lunch is suggested as the walks will run through lunch time into the afternoon in many cases.

Any suggestions for future walks are welcomed.

While I will try to make myself available to lead the walks this may not be possible throughout the year and other members of the Group may be asked to lead walks from time to time.

Please note that the Church, the Walking Group or the leader of each walk cannot accept liability for any accident which may occur on any group walk. Personal Accident Insurance is the responsibility of each walker.

Note: Persons coming on the Walks do so at their own risk.
